ABOUT RDI CENTERS

The university supports a network of Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) Centers. These centers are focal points of CSU’s RDIE Agenda 2020-2025. The Centers are the lead implementers of programs and projects.

  • Mineral Resources Management Research and Training Center (MinRes) - The RDIE Center of Caraga State University that serves as a focal point for the integration of various disciplines through science-based research and innovations for sustainable development of mineral resources in Caraga Region.

  • Center for Robotics, Automation and Fabrication Technology (CRAFT) - CRAFT forms a core area of research that encompasses the applications of robotics, automation, and fabrication to the development of Caraga Region.

  • Center for Research in Environmental Management and Eco-governance (CRÈME) - The main goal of the Center is to sustain economic development through sustainable resource use adopting environment-friendly and ecologically sound approaches and governance. The Center caters to the demands for scientific and evidence-based information that will serve as foundations in planning for sustainable economic development without compromising the capacity of the natural resources to renew and perpetuate. It provides research services in the areas of biodiversity management and conservation, water management, waste management, urban planning, socioeconomic and ecological impacts of industrial projects, pollution management among others. It also provides training services in the areas related to social, economic, ecological and industrial aspects of economic development projects. The desired outcome of the establishment of the Center is an improved and balance ecological condition in Caraga Region while uplifting the socio economic situation of the community for the ultimate and full development of human potential.

  • Caraga Center for Agricultural Research and Entrepreneurship (Caraga-CARE) - Caraga-CARE is created to address issues in Agriculture and Agri-Industries through a scientific and evidence-based information in the development of new technology, innovation and policy reforms without compromising the environment.

  • Center for Resource Assessment, Analytics and Emerging Technologies (CREATE) - A research center committed to make the Caraga Region’s resources and agricultural landscapes the platform for research and development in the integrated fields of agricultural and biosystems engineering, high performance computing, and other emerging technologies towards an S& T- based resource management and sustainability.

  • Center for Nanoscience and Technology for Research and Entrepreneurship (CeNTRE) - Center for Nanoscience and Technology for Research and Entrepreneurship (CeNTRE) a.k.a. Nano-CeNTRE was established last December 13, 2019, through a CSU Board Resolution No. 50-10, s. 2019 dedicated to implement advanced research in the areas of Nanoscience and Entrepreneurship, particularly those with important potential applications. The CeNTRE will provide a multidisciplinary venue for individuals throughout the University with an interest in pursuing nanotechnology-related researches, as well as a training center for young and budding talents in the field of nanoscience. It will also provide the opportunity to collaborate on the development of new programs, conduct research, and create new partnerships with other research institutions. In addition to research, the CeNTRE also conducts training, provide venues for student immersions, and a research hub for individuals with interest in nanoscience and materials science. The CeNTRE also is undertaking R&D projects from different institutions and is offering consultancy services to industries and research institutions in Caraga and in Mindanao Region.

  • Caraga Center of Peace and Development (CCPD) - This Center is the lead convenor of the R&D Program to Ensure Healthy, Happy and Peaceful Population. This program focuses on conflict resolution and just dealing with the various sectors of society; development support to various ethnic groups and disadvantaged groups in Caraga Region; observance of values, traditions, practices, mores among various sectors for sustainable rural development; development of education strategies for skills enhancement and livelihood program; studies on financial literacy, home management, and local enterprise development to allow women to gain income while nurturing their children; preserving the artefacts and the distinctive and irreplaceable elements of a society, the intangible attributes of a society that are inherited from past generations; studies about relics from towns and the various cities need to be recorded, studied and be interwoven into the culture of the people for the young generation to appreciate and hold dear in their hearts.

  • Caraga Fablab - Fab Lab is the educational outreach component of MIT’s Center for Bits and Atoms (CBA), an extension of its research into digital fabrication and computation. A Fab Lab is a technical prototyping platform for innovation and invention, providing stimulus for local entrepreneurship. A Fab Lab is also a platform for learning and innovation: a place to play, to create, to learn, to mentor, to invent. To be a Fab Lab means connecting to a global community of learners, educators, technologists, researchers, makers, and innovators, a knowledge-sharing network that spans 30 countries and 24 time zones. Because all Fab Labs share common tools and processes, the program is building a global network, a distributed laboratory for research and invention.

  • Navigatu - Navigatu is the Technology Business Incubator (TBI) in Caraga State University, offering a wide-range of services for startups and aspiring student entrepreneurs. Navigatu is taken from the word navigation. Inspired by the long history of Butuan's Balangay Boats which is the oldest wooden watercraft excavated in Southeast Asia showing evidence of early Filipino craftsmanship and seamanship.

  • Caraga Center for Geo-informatics (CCGeo) - CCGeo is an interdisciplinary center for the conduct of research, training and extension activities in the field of GEO-INFORMATICS in Caraga State University. The Center primarily deals with and applies Geo-Informatics technologies such as Surveying, Remote Sensing (RS), Geographic Information System (GIS), Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), Photogrammetry, and Cartography, among many others, to understand or address real world geographic problems and situations.

  • Center for Human Computer Interaction (CHCI) - The Center for HCI (CHCI) at Caraga State University is a university-wide research center that addresses foundation of human computer interaction technology applied to learning environment, social and rural context. It is a multi-disciplinary endeavor from human sciences, computational, engineering and information technologies. It foster research and development on the area of artificial intelligence, augmented reality and other HCIs related field of specialization. It provides avenue for students, faculty and researchers to engage on R&D activities to be financed by funding institutions.

  • Mindanao Data Science, Engineering, and Technology Center (MinDSET) - The MinDSET Center aims to be the core for high performance computing at Caraga State University and the region as a whole. The MinDSET Center will be located at Caraga Region’s premiere institution for higher learning and research to facilitate a straightforward collaboration of interdisciplinary researchers who endeavour into compute-intensive research activities leading to scientific and engineering breakthroughs. The MinDSET Center will also provide basic computing resources to faculty, researchers and students of Caraga State University and training programs available for interested schools and other agencies. Also, the MinDSET Center aims to provide a data storage facility to aggregate all resources and transform it into a knowledge-based information system for regional stakeholders, researchers, and investors.

  • Information and Communication Technology Center (ICT Center) - The Information and Communications Technology Center (ICT) Center is tasked by the University to provide the Information and Communications Technology infrastructure of both the Main and the Cabadbaran Campus. The Center houses application programmers and developers whose primary tasks is to develop applications software as well as web-based solutions for the students, the administration, and for the decision makers.
